Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard's Premiership record run of consecutive appearances has ended at 164 after he withdrew from the line-up for the clash with Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium.

The England star featured for the Blues for his 160th successive match against Portsmouth last month to beat David James’ record.

Lampard’s run began with an appearance as a 73rd-minute substitute against Leicester on October 13, 2001. And the last is against Fulham with a long shot goal on December 26,2005.
